More Strides

Off we go to train on steps.

(Cue Rocky music)

He is getting the idea not to jump the last steps.

Cuteness on a leash

It has been a wonderful experience watching Dale begin to bloom.

New Strides

He's not striding on a racetrack anymore. Dale is making great strides navigating his new world.

Dale already likes to ride in the car.

His first experience on a wide expanse of slick shiny flooring was a success.

Dale found courage when I walked by his side.

He looks to people for direction and confidence.

He decided to sit in the car and look around.

Up next, Dale on steps!

Had a Bad Day?

That bad day will melt away if you come home to this...

Dale's greeting doesn't end at the door.

Dale is a good listener. You can tell him all about your day.

After a big Dale hug you will be smiling again.

A New Chew

Dale discovers the joy of chewing.
(Sorry the video is so dark.)

Dale did not get the idea a raw hide was fun to chomp
until I rubbed meat flavoring on it.

Yes, a lot of chewing video, but he was so cute.

Dale has a lot of patience with dogs getting in his space.

I think Dale has some one wrapped around his little paw.

Be careful or you will be next!

DALE'S FIRST DAYS

Dale has come straight from Daytona. His racing days ended when he sustained a fracture in his last race. I dare you to guess which leg was injured. He has recovered remarkably.  Now this not quite 3 year old boy can enjoy retirement.

Dale decided to begin his leisurely days in a quiet way. Not knowing dog beds were meant for him, he laid on an area rug.

Even after introducing him to dog beds he has not laid on them. He did decide it was okay to lay on a sleeping bag.

Dale had no qualms with a little fluffy dog coming to investigate him.

After giving the camera a sniff he deduced it was nothing to worry about.

Dale met our 3 dogs with ease. He doesn't even glance at our Shih Tzu.

Everyday is a new discovery for Dale as he learns about life off the track. He has a gentle way of assessing then accepting all the new coming his way.

For me, walking him is like a bit of Zen on the end of the leash.

Let me end by quoting my husband. "Nothing you write will do this dog justice."
